Information for ENGR 2304 CDROM

To the student:

This CDROM contains the following files:

(1) The syllabus for ENGR 2304 (Syllabus Spring 2005.doc);
(2) The compressed (zipped) JBuilder files in folder JBuilder; and
(3) A menu driven video presentation covering installation of JBuilder and creation a simple Java program.

The video menu should launch automatically when you load the CDROM.  If it doesn't, try double-clicking
on the file "Introduction_to_JBuilder_and_Java.exe".  The videos may not play correctly if your computer
and/or your CDROM drive is too slow.  The college and high school libraries or computer labs may have a 
suitable computer for viewing the videos, but you will need to bring your own earphones.  Also, you will 
have to take notes and install JBuilder on your PC later.

I am very interested in how this method of getting started works, so let me know if you 
like it or if you have suggestions.  Use WebCT email to communicate with me.

If your are unable to view the video, then use this procedure:

(1) Copy the JBuilder folder on the CDROM to the C: drive.
(2) If you are using Windows XP, double-click on the zipped folders until you see "Install.exe", then double click to start installation.  Take all defaults.
(3) If you are using an older Windows, you will have to manually unzip the files using WinZip, an application you can download from www.winzip.com.  Unzip them to a temporary folder so that you can delete them later. After unzipping, follow the instructions in (2) above.
(4) Repeat (1) through (3) for both JBuilder and JBuilder Docs (document files).
