| As a high school junior you are looking
forward to making a decision next year on what your college major will
take and where you will go to university. These are major decision
points and deserve close attention now. If math, science, or
engineering is a possible major, taking math through pre-Calculus before
you graduate is critical. Chemistry and physics are important,
too. If you have not taken these classes by the time you graduate,
a year or two at SWTJC can give the confidence you need to
succeed. Even before you graduate, you can enroll in our
dual-credit courses "Introduction to Engineering" and
"Fundamentals of Programming" as a senior. These courses
are offered by teleconference directly to area high schools.
They are designed to "fill in the gaps" in your
preparation. Also, the summer after graduation you can take
college trig and pre-Calculus to ensure your math skills are peaked for
Calculus I in the fall. You have time to make the right decisions
and see your prospects grow toward a career in math, science, or
engineering! And don't forget to apply for the CSEMS
scholarship next year!
