CETT 1402 - Electricity Principles - 4 sem. hrs. (2-6-0)
Principles of electricity including the proper use of
test equipment, A/C and D/C circuits, and components theory and operation.
Two lecture and six lab hours per week.
Prerequisite: None. Lab Fee

BUSG 2309 - Small Business Management - 3 sem. hrs.
(3-0-0)
A course on how to start and operate a small business. Topics include facts about a small business, essential management skills, how to prepare a business plan, financial needs, marketing strategies, and legal issues. Three lecture hours per week. Capstone course that consolidates the student's learning experience. Prerequisites: None
HART 1403 - A/C Control Principles -4 sem. hrs. (2-6-0)
A basic study of electrical, pressure, and temperature
controls including motor starting devices, operating relays, and troubleshooting
safety controls and devices. Emphasis
on use of wiring diagrams to analyze high and low voltage circuits.
A review of Ohm's law as applied to A/C controls and circuits.
Two lecture and six lab hours per week.
Prerequisite: HART 1401 and
HART 1407 or consent of instructor. Lab

HART 1407 - Refrigeration Principles - 4 sem. hrs.
(2-6-0)
An introduction to the refrigeration cycle, basic
thermodynamics, heat transfer, temperature/pressure relationship, safety,
refrigeration containment, and refrigeration components.
Two lecture and six lab hours per week.
Prerequisite: HART 1401 or

HART 1441 - Residential Air Conditioning - 4 sem hrs
(2-6-0)
A study of components, applications, and installation of
mechanical air conditioning systems including operating conditions,
troubleshooting, repair, and charging of air conditioning systems.
Two lecture and six lab hours per week.
Prerequisite: HART 1401 and HART 1407 or consent of instructor.

HART 1442 - Commercial Refrigeration - 4 sem hrs (2-6-0)
Theory of and practical application in the maintenance of
commercial refrigeration; high, medium, and low temperature applications and ice
machines. Two lecture and six lab
hours per week. Prerequisite: HART
1401 and HART 1407 or consent of instructor.

HART 1445 - Gas and Electric Heating - 4 sem hrs (2-6-0)
A study of the procedures and principles used in
servicing heating systems including gas fired and electric furnaces. Two lecture and six lab hours per week. Prerequisite: HART
1401 and HART 1403 or consent of instructor.

HART 1449 - Heat Pumps - 4 sem. hrs. (2-6-0)
A study of heat pumps, heat pump control circuits,
defrost controls, auxiliary heat, air flow, and other topics related to heat
pump systems. Two lecture and six
lab hours per week. Prerequisite:
HART 1401, HART 1403, HART 1407 and HART 1441.

HART 2280 - Cooperative Education - Heating, Air
Conditioning, and Refrigeration Technologies/Technicians - 2 sem. hrs. (1-0-7)
Career related activities encountered in the student's
area of specialization are offered through a cooperative agreement between the
college, employer, and student. Under
supervision of the college and the employer, the student combines classroom
learning with work experience. Directly
related to a technical discipline, specific learning objectives guide the
student through the work experience. This
course may be repeated if topics and learning outcomes vary.
This is a capstone course and should only be taken during the final
semester of attendance before graduation. One
lecture and seven external experience hours per week.
Co-requisite: HART 2445.

HART 2436 - Troubleshooting - 4 sem. hrs. (2-6-0)
An advanced course in application of troubleshooting
principles and use of test instruments to diagnose air conditioning and
refrigeration components and system problems including conducting performance
tests. Two lecture and six lab
hours per week. Prerequisite: HART
1401, HART 1403, HART 1407, HART 1441, HART 1442 and HART 1445 or consent of
instructor. Lab Fee - $24
HART 2438 - Air Conditioning Installation/Service - 4 sem. hrs. (2-6-0)
A study of air conditioning system installation,
refrigeration piping, condensate disposal, and air cleaning equipment with
emphasis on service, troubleshooting, performance testing, and repair
techniques. Two lecture and six lab
hours per week. Capstone course
that consolidates the student's learning experiences.
Prerequisite: HART 1401, HART 1403 and HART 1441 or consent of
instructor. Lab Fee - $24
HART 2445 - Air Conditioning Systems Design - 4 sem. hrs. (2-6-0)
A study of the properties of air and results of cooling,
heating, humidifying or dehumidifying; heat gain and heat loss calculations
including equipment selection and balancing the air system. Two lecture and six lab hours per week. Prerequisite: HART
1403, HART 1407 and HART 1441 or consent of instructor. Lab Fee - $24
